Rabbit Haven is seeking individuals and families willing to open their heart and home to needing buns through our foster care program. If you have the love, interest and dedication needed to succeed in fostering, we'd love to hear from you!
Immediate Foster Homes Needed!
Rabbit
Haven recently agreed to take in nine rabbits from a private individual at
the request of another shelter. Once arrangements had been made and
the rabbits were transported to Rabbit Haven, the numbers increased
dramatically. What originally was to be two adults and seven babies,
turned out to be in reality two adults and 16 babies from two different
litters. The numbers increased even more when the adult female
rabbit, Teresa, surprised us the evening after arriving with her third
litter and yet another nine babes bringing the total to 27 rabbits in all!
The
sanctuary and its few foster homes are now completely full to
overflowing. As these adorable babies mature they will undoubtedly
need to be separated and will require a lot more space. It is also
very important that they receive as much loving, human interaction as is
possible to increase their chances of remaining friendly and therefore
increasing their chances of being welcomed into a loving, forever family;
to be given a much deserved second chance at happiness.
The
first and second litters are weaned and ready to be welcomed into a foster
home where they can get the extra attention and love that every bunny
deserves. Teresa's third and final litter are still nursing and
doing well. They will remain with Teresa in foster care until they
are also weaned, at which time Teresa will be spayed and made available
for adoption.

foster buns, we would very much be interested in speaking with you.

Fostering Opportunities
There are the shy buns who need gentle patience and individualized attention in order to learn they can trust human companionship. By helping them with this, you are improving their chances of finding a forever home tremendously!
There are the buns who are recovering from an injury, illness or medical procedure. Their needs can include medication (topical, oral and/or injection) and close monitoring. We place special needs buns only in foster homes where the fosterer is able to meet the needs of the buns. Of course, these special needs buns also need extra love and gentle attention.
There are the young buns who need to be handled often and bottle fed. This can be very demanding, but is a wonderful experience. A foster home where the fosterer is home the majority of time is perfect for these buns. Of course, love and gentle attention are a must as the little ones are very fragile.
Last, but not least, there are the buns that are just waiting for their own forever home and need a safe, loving place to stay until they can be adopted. Unfortunately, sometimes daily, we find ourselves in a position of not being able to help a bun in need just because of the lack of space available.
