HOORAY! HOORAY! HOORAY!  Jeepers has been welcomed into a fabulous family that thinks he is just the bee's knees!  Word has come from home that he is curiously exploring his new home and settling in nicely.  He and his fellow bun family member, Monkey, are doing well and are showing positive signs of becoming life-long friends.  We will miss Jeepers, but could not be more happy for him finally being able to realize his own happily ever after!  Congratulations!!

Jeepers with his "one" back leg outstretched.03/29/2005  Jeepers has been neutered for quite some time now and is completely recovered from his amputation.  He is a picture of perfect health!  He gets around quite nicely, has a great appetite and is learning to trust more and more as time goes on.  Jeepers is more than ready for a forever home of his own and would be even more tickled should it come with a sweet bun-friend too!  This picture is of Jeepers with his "one" back leg outstretched.  He is sitting in his favorite place.  Isn't he is adorable?!  He certainly is convinced he is and we here at Rabbit Haven couldn't agree more.  :)

Jeepers when he first came to Rabbit Haven with a broken back leg.09/06/2004  An anonymous donor came forward and generously donated the entire amount of veterinary costs for Jeepers' emergency surgery.  Thank you!  Jeepers still needs your help with his day-to-day care expenses.  If you would like to help with some of these expenses, please click on the JustGive.Org logo to the left or CLICK HERE to print up a form to mail in with your much appreciated donation.  There is more good news to share with you regarding this great guy.  He has been placed into a foster home!  His new foster mom is completely enjoying caring for and socializing him.  She says that he has "radar ears" whenever she opens his housing.  She also says that he still prefers not to be touched, but that she continues to pat him and give him kisses.  In time he will learn that this is all a good thing.  :)  He spends a lot of time grooming his stuffed bunny animal buddy; this guy will most certainly want a friend once he has been altered and had plenty of time to recover!  All things considered, he's doing wonderful!!

08/11/2004  Jeepers wasn't able to wait for an appointment for his leg removal.  His leg began swelling and became quite enlarged so Sue took him in for emergency surgery.  Everything went well and Jeepers was already starting to get around very well by that evening.  He pulled one stitch after several days (guess he thought he really didn't need that one or it was exceptionally bothersome) and waited a week before pulling the rest of them himself.  This guy doesn't let anything get in his way; this is one determined bun!  He has mastered his three legs to where he is using his litter box consistently hoping in and out as needed.  He continues to recover and we expect a full recovery for him.  Because of the amputation needing to be under an emergency situation; there was not time for him to also be neutered so he will have one more quick surgery once he has recovered in order to have his pockets picked.  Our hope is to place Jeepers into foster care where he can get the love, care and socialization he needs.  Yeah Jeepers!  Way To Go Big Guy!!

07/25/2004  Jeepers, an intact male bun, was discovered as he crouched beside an automobile tire in a car sales lot.  It was quickly apparent that there was something terribly wrong with his back, right leg as he tried to hop away to safety.  Once he was captured, he was quickly relinquished to Rabbit Haven's care were his condition was evaluated.  His foot dangled, had no feeling and it was clear then that he would need to have the leg removed.  We are in the process of getting this done for him.  We have had several 3-legged residents and it is amazing how quickly they adapt.  Jeepers will need socialization and recovery, but we have high hopes for this adorable, trooper of a bun.  He clearly has an amazing will to survive.
